This was an illustration project for my print making class. I used scratchboard on this and I absolutely love it now. I've done 2 projects with scratchboard and I love the medium. I love the high contrast of just the black and white image and the marks you can make on the board.
Anyway, this is my tribute to Alice in Wonderland. The Title " mind of a Madman" is actually not true. Lewis Carroll was a brilliant mathematician (I know that isn't spelled right) Lots of what he wrote about in those books are not random fantasy, they are very precise mathmatic equations. If You don't believe me look it up in an annotated version of his Alice books.
Anyway I love alice in wonderland but I cross over form the movie's to the books to the game (american McGee's Alice) I love bri-chan's rendition of Alice and the Mad Hatter, but I really love the way the Cheshire Cat is dealt with in the game. I love the whole odd/evil angle of Wonderland, even tho that it not how Carroll invisioned it.
There are references to both the movies and the books in this piece and if you look hard enough you can find quotes form both the books and the animated movie.
Also just a side note, anyone who absolutely loves the Alice books should look into Frank Beddor's Looking Glass Wars novels and graphic novels. They are amazing and the characters are great.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
